Curriculum

This is our over-arching curriculum at Thornhill Lees Infant and Nursery School.

The framework the Early Years follow is called Birth to 5 Matters click Birth to 5 Matters.

The Phonics Scheme used across the Whole School is Little Wandle.

The Reading Scheme used in school with the children is Collins Big Cats books which align with our whole school Phonics scheme.

Mathematics is taught following the the White Rose schemes of learning, which are designed to support a mastery approach to teaching and learning, as well as to support the aims and objectives of the National Curriculum.  The White Rose scheme has number at the heart and a lot of time is spent reinforcing number to build competency. It also provides opportunities to build reasoning and problem solving into each lesson.  We also use elements of the NCETM spine documents to supplement our journey into mastery.
